Comment on The Church in a Sexualised Culture by Eddie Broussard http://www.lausanneeurope.org/the-church-in-a-sexualised-culture/#comment-7136 Thu, 02 Sep 2021 19:58:42 +0000 https://www.lausanneeurope.org/?p=7652#comment-7136 Thanks for helping us look beneath the surface at both the foundations and implications of the popular secular narratives of human sexuality and their vision for human sexuality fulfillment. Does God our creator, the One who is all wise and all knowing have the best idea for human flourishing in the area of sexuality? It would be great to explore deeper understanding of the impact of placing a wedge between body and soul, between biological sex and gender, etc. Prov. 14:12 and 16:25 say, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” The corrupting influence of sin affects all areas our humanity that our sexuality touches, emotional, psychological, physical, attitudinal, etc. What are some of the consequences of the “freedom” advocated in the view of sexuality touted in advertisements today? I would like to be able to better converse God’s vision of flourishing in the area of our human sexuality. This article spurred me on further on that journey.

Comment on We Seek Your Kingdom by Ole-Magnus http://www.lausanneeurope.org/we-seek-your-kingdom/#comment-7131 Mon, 19 Jul 2021 07:52:39 +0000 https://www.lausanneeurope.org/?p=7402#comment-7131 Dear Natalie Meeks and Charles Kelly – Conversation team
As I listened to “We Seek Your Kingdom” this morning I broke down in tears, deeply touched! Leaving me with the prayer “Make us again what we were made to be” – And please, Lord, start with me!

Mark 4,35-41 reached me at a deeper level than earlier as I soaked in “Peace! Be still!” – taking in the impressions in the Reambrandt painting.
Sureley; “Ears that hear and eyes that see – the Lord made them both” – Prov 20,12.

Natalie and Charles; please keep helping us to make Christ visible in Europe today

Comment on Understanding and Discipling Youth by Paul Ritchie http://www.lausanneeurope.org/understanding-and-discipling-youth/#comment-7130 Wed, 14 Jul 2021 11:49:32 +0000 https://www.lausanneeurope.org/?p=6840#comment-7130 In my teens’ secondary school they have moved the conversation from ‘tolerance’ to ‘acceptance’. They no longer claim that it is okay to simply love people who are different than you, you must accept (celebrate) they sexual identities too. In practice this means that you are not allowed disagree with the school policy or issues of transgenderism etc. I have spoken to the principle about how she can ensure a safe environment for those who hold views that are outliers on issues of sexuality (e.g. evangelicals, Muslims etc). There seems to be no tolerance for dissenting voices.

Comment on Bearing Witness to Christ in the Realm of Ideas: A Holistic Missional Approach to Apologetics in Europe by Paul Ritchie http://www.lausanneeurope.org/bearing-witness-to-christ-in-the-realm-of-ideas-a-holistic-missional-approach-to-apologetics-in-europe/#comment-7126 Wed, 23 Jun 2021 19:39:06 +0000 https://www.lausanneeurope.org/?p=7188#comment-7126 In the context of the Republic of Ireland it seems that pre-Christian and post-Christian ideas receive positive press but any truly Christian views are discarded. The Catholic church is labelled corrupt because of the many child abuse scandals and evangelicals are caricatured of as right-wing, climate denying, Trump supporting etc.
In a program on RTE (our state television channel) a comedian met people from all forms of vague religious backgrounds. All were given a positive airing except the evangelical house church leader who was treated with great hostility because of his views on LGBT+ issues.
RTE will give positive images of pre-Christian views (e.g. holy wells and druidism). It also treats the Islamic community with the gentleness that should be shown to minority groups. But evangelicals (who are a tiny fraction of our population) are not treated with such gentleness.

Today a friend explained how her own biological family is dysfunctional and so her church family is of extra importance to her. (Paul Ritchie, Limerick)

What can my church do to respond? What about the larger Church? How can we overcome our hesitancy or fear and go after this generation? We are praying about this.
