Key Opportunities and Challenges for the Church in a Media Age

We live in a media-saturated age, which presents the church in Europe with an unprecedented opportunity for making the case for the truth of Christ. How can the church as a whole and Christians as individuals make the most of the opportunities and face the challenges? This multiplex will explore the role of media in our lives and feature best practices about how Christians can have a Gospel influence through media platforms and messages.
About the speaker

Margunn Serigstad Dahle is an Associate Professor at NLA University College, Kristiansand, Norway, where she has taught in the fields of communication, media and worldviews since 1991. For many years, she was Programme Director for the Communication and Worldviews Bachelor Programme, which is designed to equip evangelical communicators and apologists in various fields for the contemporary Western cultural context. Especially connected to her Damaris Norway involvement, she is a regular lecturer, speaker and writer in various contexts in Norway and beyond. She co-leads the annual Media Communicators Network at the European Leadership Forum, is involved as a lecturer, workshop facilitator and consultant for the Lausanne Media Engagement Network, and was a co-editor of The Lausanne Movement: A Range of Perspectives (Oxford: Regnum, 2014). Margunn is married to Lars, and the two of them enjoy having family, friends and students for meals and fellowship in their home.

About the speaker

Henryk Krol, PhD. Eng. is a scientist, entrepreneur and Christian leader. He co-founded and leads as President DEOrecordings Association in Poland, which for more than 40 years has been developing various communication channels to "help the spiritually homeless". He started with an evangelistic Christian Music Group (1973), then a professional recording studio (1986), adding publishing and event organizing (1990), Radio CCM FM network (1997), serious internet involvement (2008) and an IT and software development center (2012) that has developed a Mentoring/Discipling Management System used now by over 30 partners in 25 languages. Poland is the ministry focus and testing playground but also the spiritual harvesting place, with over 50,000 "new" seekers being discipled on a multiple-course platform by personal, physical e-coaches (160). Henryk is passionate about partnering, sharing and seeing lives transformed. His wife Bogusia and their three adult children are all helping with the dynamic ministry, led presently by their son Filip as CEO. In his spare time, Henryk used to glide and is now enjoying skiing and bike riding.

About the speaker

Attila Nyári serves on the global team of the Lausanne Movement as Chief Communications Officer. He graduated from Budapest Business School majoring in international communications and public relations, and was working for various communications agencies and in the banking sector in Hungary before stepping into ministry. Attila is also the lead pastor of Golgota Kistarcsa, a church plant in the Budapest area. He and his wife Eni have two young children.
